Description:

The Frank Sinatra Ol' Blue Eyes Pocket Pal is a small pocket sized electronic toy similar to the popular GigaPet.

Until they're completed for real (i.e. the real Palm Size Plastic Cases with light bulbs inside and pushbutton switches atop to illuminate Frank's blue eyes) I've modeled the Ol' Blue Eyes Pocket Pal in software.

Functionality includes:

(1) Random selection of red or black pushbutton (with the actual plastic cases, three have black buttons and two have red buttons) on loading of above URL (try it a few times, sometimes you'll get a black button and sometimes a red one).

(2) Toggling button opens Frank's eyes (with the actual plastic cases pressing button will illuminate Frank's blue eyes).

Bonus functions included here in software but not included in the actual cases:

(3) Eyes follow mouse motion, left, center and right.

(4) Clicking atop mouth toggles Frank's mouth in an open (singing) and closed (quiet) position.

I laid out the components (electronics, including lamp socket, wiring, battery holder, and switch) and the already drilled plastic cases atop my notebook and snapped this photo.

The cases are wrapped in tissues for their protection, except one which I unwrapped specifically for the photo.

case.jpg Pictured here is the first completed Ol' Blue Eyes Pocket Pal. The inner area of the case houses a wiring harness as shown above and includes the picture of Frank, the blue eyes (which the lamp illuminates) and a foil lining (the foil lining funnels the light directly through Frank's eyes). The rulers indicate approximate size (2 X 2").
