Chiron

First of all I need to tell you the story of Chiron.

Chiron was a centaur who was a great healer. He knew many herbs and remedies for all kinds of ills, and was considered wise and succesful when he himself was wounded by a poisoned arrow in his left rear leg [symbolism: emotionally]. In his search for an antidote for this poison, he became an even greater healer, but he could never heal his own wound.

The pain was so severe that he asked to be relieved of his immortality. His wish was granted, and he was allowed to die. Symbolically, the placement of Chiron speaks of how we handle our pain, and sometimes indicates drastic measures to escape it.

The reason I tell you this story is because Nik's natal relationship to the Chiron energy was, astrologically speaking, very difficult. In addition, transiting Chiron aspects that were culminating at midmonth would have brought this tension to a peak. To make matters more difficult, there were also some very idealistic aspects in effect which would not lend themselves to stoicism or gritty processing, but rather increase a wish to escape, a wish for almost unwordly perfection.

Z'EV felt you would want to know this was the kind of pressure Nik was experiencing. The interpretations below are a bit on the simplistic and rosy side; they're from an astrological software package, but nevertheless they suggest what was happening.

[ Z interpolating here -- when we went looking at nik's chart and starting coming up with stuff i thought it would be good for you to see it -- i mean we are all sitting around wondering WHY and at least here we can see that there was some HEAVY astrologicial shit going down right around the 12th which combined with his drinking would have certainly been enough to drive him over the edge -- at least theres now SOME sort of explanation -- ]

TRANSITING CHIRON CONJUNCTION RADIX CHIRON (4th House)
Culminates Nov 16 1999

This is called the Chiron return - the time when transiting Chiron returns to the position of your natal Chiron. If you have not already done so, you now begin to think about your life in terms of your past achievements and what comes in the future. In particular you may start questioning your own death and how you are going to live the rest of your life. This can be a time of spiritual discovery, which helps to heal past events and put you on a new path.

TRANSITING NEPTUNE CONJUNCTION RADIX JUPITER (5th House)
Culminates Nov 25 1999

This is a time of idealism and high hopes. You are more likely to have your head high in the clouds than be concerned with day-to-day matters. Religious studies, artistic pursuits, and being in nature will be therapeutic during this time. Your compassion will also come to the fore, and you may feel moved to give your time to humanitarian causes. It is a good time to enjoy your feelings of at-one-ment. However, make sure that you do not entirely throw caution to the wind.

TRANSITING SATURN SQUARE RADIX PLUTO (9th House to 12th House)

You feel an urge for change and yet your efforts seem to be blocked. This is the dilemma faced during this transit, and it can be quite distressing. The challenge is to change our expectations, not always an easy task. However, you will discover one way or another that you have been stripped of a lot of excess baggage, and that this can be actually quite rejuvenating.

TRANSITING CHIRON OPPOSITION RADIX MOON (4th House to 10th House)

The Moon is considered to be the most emotionally vulnerable point in the chart, and Chiron is the Wounded Healer. It can be considered a precious time as Chiron makes an aspect to the Moon. It may be a time when you get glimpses of your life purpose. These glimpses may come on an emotional level. It may be a time when you experience a profound contact with the powerful archetypal concept of Chiron. However, this contact may also be painful, bringing up old wounds. These may be brought to a conscious level or simply experienced through dreams. It is also possible that a member of your family or close women friends is suffering during this time, and that you are called on to use your healing talents. The transit is ultimately positive, as it is healing. It will help you learn how to move through to the other side of pain - to teach you about yourself. It is also a time when you are open to a visit from your archetypal guru or teacher. This may happen in dreams or daydreams. Tears may flow, but it is ultimately a time of healing and education.

During this transit an external event or someone in your life could be causing you pain. You may be surprised at the extent of the hurt, as it is subconsciously linked with a painful incident in your childhood. The positive sideof this transit is that it changes the way you see and express yourself. You may discover hidden skills you never knew you possessed, sparking a whole new field of learning ultimately providing a great source of healing. You have the chance to heal wounds, physical and/or emotional, and realign your identity with your true purpose.
